On May 7, 2010 I had the opportunity to visit Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, Los Angeles and take some photographs of the wonderful costume exhibits from their movie archives on display there.

Penny Rose was responsible for Costume Design on the movie and was nominated for both a Costume Designers Guild Award and a BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) for Best Costume Design.

During the movie Alice grows and shrinks numerous times, but unlike in the animated version, her clothes do not change in size with her, hence lots of costume changes. This particular dress is whipped up by the Mad Hatter when she shrinks down in size and was designed by Colleen Atwood.

Apparently this is named the 'Hidden Mickey' dress, I assume due to the circular pattern, the larger circle being the face and the two smaller black circles being the ears of Disney's Mickey Mouse.
