Supercool Halloween costume inspiration for men...

Need some ideas for your Halloween costume this year? Whether you're looking to be a futuristic warrior, crime-fighting vigilante, iconic hero, eccentric character, wondrous wizard or scary villain, here's a fantastic selection of movie costumes worn by Hollywood's leading men from the worlds of fantasy, sci-fi, sword and sorcery and more.

Mad Hatter costume from Alice in Wonderland

The Mad Hatter was certainly a popular choice at last year's West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval.

Harry Potter Quidditch robes

I'm sure that lots of fans will be paying homage to Harry Potter this year now that the movies have come to a satisfying conclusion.

Nite Owl II costume from Watchmen

I love Nite Owl's Batman-esque costume design from Watchmen and would love to own a suit like this.

Rorschach outfit from Watchmen

'Rorschach' is also great costume idea from Watchmen and it's probably the easiest to replicate if you have a trench coat, hat and scarf to hand.

Dastan costume from Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Dastan Prince of Persia costume
If you're a 'sand and sandals' fantasy fan, this Prince of Persia costume would look great, especially if you have the muscles to fill it out like Jake Gyllenhaal did.
Captain Jack Sparrow costume from
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Jack Sparrow Pirates of the Caribbean costume
Following a fourth cinematic outing this year, maybe you fancy taking inspiration from 'Captain Jack Sparrow' or one of the other swashbuckling Pirates of the Caribbean characters.
Captain Barbossa costume from
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Blackbeard movie costume from

If you're a comic book fan, what about donning the classic superhero tights of 'Superman', or maybe a slightly more gritty 'Dark Knight'?

Superman suit from Superman Returns

For medieval fantasy fans there's lots of ideas to be gained from the heroes that feature in The Chronicles of Narnia.

Peter Pevensie's battle armour from Narnia's Prince Caspian

Even though The Last Airbender was a pretty dire movie adaptation of the popular cartoon series, 'Aang's' look should be a fairly easy one to replicate (although granted, not everyone wants to shave their head for Halloween).

Aang movie costume from The Last Airbender

For Star Wars fans it's time to grab yourself some black and red face-paint, a black cloak and a lightsaber (you know you have one hanging around).

Darth Maul costume from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace

If you feel like baring all this season (and have the six-pack and pecs to do so), take a leaf out of Jason Momoa's new look 'Conan the Barbarian'. Although be warned, those chain-mail sleeves are heavy.

Zorro TV costume

Be inspired by the classic look of 'Zorro', which is quite a simple look to replicate if you have some black clothes in your wardrobe, or what about the retro stylings of 'The Rocketeer'.

And if the new Tron: Legacy light-suits don't do it for you, maybe take a fashion tip from the past (or is that future), with these classic Tron movie costumes.

Even if you can't find the exact outfit you were looking for, maybe all these original movie costumes will help spark an idea of what you could be for Halloween.

Fantastic Halloween costume inspiration for women...

Stuck for ideas for Halloween this year? There's still time to make or buy your outfit, so if you're looking for a great ladies costume check out these ideas from the world of cinema to inspire you. Here's everything from sci-fi to fantasy, musical to magical, superheroines to pirates, villainous witches and evil bitches.

BabyDoll costume from Sucker Punch

Even though it wasn't the hoped for blockbuster success, Sucker Punch still seems to have captured the audience's imagination with its tough chicks and iconic outfits, no more so than with Emily Browning's 'Babydoll' Japanese schoolgirl look.

Christina Aguilera's string pearl costume from Burlesque

Christina Aguilera dazzled in an assortment of revealing costumes in the musical Burlesque.

Siren Gem light-suit costume from Tron: Legacy

Even though the movie Tron: Legacy was a bit of a disappointment, the new light-suits in the movie were pretty spectacular, especially these figure-hugging white Siren costumes.

Sweet Pea costume from Sucker Punch

'Sweet Pea' certainly seems to have been a popular character and costume from Sucker Punch. I've literally had loads of cosplayers and people who've made their own outfits thank me for posting these pictures of the original costume on display for reference.

Even though Tim Burton's live-action Alice in Wonderland was released in 2010, I still think there'll be a lot of women sporting the Colleen Atwood inspired designs this Halloween, whether it be a spectacular dress or feminine suit of armour.

Sadly the Harry Potter movies are all over now, but at least they went out on a high note. I can imagine there'll be a few Hermione Granger's and other Hogwarts characters wandering the streets in celebration this All Hallow's Eve.

Natalie Portman's 'Nina Sayers' in Black Swan was a bit of a bi-polar ballet dancer, so you could either choose to dress as her nice ballerina personality or as her more sinister alter ego.

Personally I think the Silk Spectre II costume worn by Malin Akerman in Watchmen was a great reinvention and update of the comic book original, but you do have to have the body and confidence to pull of this look (and maybe someone to help you into the latex outfit).

If you want to feel like a 'sand and sandals' fantasy princess this season, I'd recommend emulating Gemma Arterton's 'Princess Tamina' look.

If you want to be more fierce, there's always 'Jadis' the White Witch in full battle mode from The Chronicle of Narnia to inspire you.

If it's a more heroic look, maybe you could be a Queen of Narnia like 'Susan Pevensie'.

To unlock your swashbuckling spirit check out Penelope Cruz's pirate costume from the fourth movie in the popular Disney movie franchise.

And for some over-the-top ABBA glam, these disco-tastic outfits from Mamma Mia are what you are looking for.

Sorceress Marique costume from the Conan the Barbarian remake

For something a bit more magical you could try being an evil sorceress from Conan the Barbarian's Hyborian age, or a wicked witch like Bette Midler from Hocus Pocus.

If you're a Disney fan you could unleash your inner 'Cruela de Vil' or evil queen for the night.

If it's space that gets you excited, maybe this Battlestar Galactica flight-suit, iconic Starfleet uniform or classic Tron costume will please your sci-fi sensibilities.

These are the most popular costumes worn by women in the movies on Hollywood Movie Costumes and Props this year. Just click on the movie links in the archives for even more great detailed photos.

As you can see there's a whole closet full of ideas from the movie wardrobe department to inspire your Halloween outfit. Enjoy and good luck.
